A Day In My Life
Hey guys! What have you been up to lately? Please catch me up on your life. This “day in my life post” is an in-depth version of an IGTV video I posted a little while back. This post kind of explains what I do and why I do them. I am writing about a day when I’m not working so you can better understand what I do in a day. If I was working, it’s usually from 11-4pm.
8am: Wake up
The time I wake up during the day depends on whether I have work that day. I typically work 11am-4pm, so I try to wake up by 7-8am. The first thing I do, of course, is say good morning to Bella, who sleeps on the pillow above my head. Some mornings, I do wake up to her licking my face. And then I send a weird-looking selfie to my best friend. It’s a little fun thing we do every morning. Before getting out of bed, I’ll do all the medical stuff I do every day.
8:30am: Stretch/workout
Stretching every morning is something super important to me. I have a chronic pain condition, and stretching in the morning helps me get less sore throughout the day. I want to maintain/increase my flexibility. Stretching clears my mind and makes me ready for the day. I do the same stretching routine and use the same playlist as in Jazz class back in high school. This routine is so ingrained in me that I continue doing it. I’ve also been trying to work out, so this is the time when I’d do that on a day off from work. I’ve been using Chloe Ting videos.
9am - 11am: Breakfast, hygienic things and chill
I am not a breakfast person, but I work at a restaurant, and smelling our food makes me so hungry. I always try to eat something before work. I usually have a small cup of coffee (as usual) and a smoothie (just fruit and juice). Sounds like a weird combination, but it works well for me. It’s simple enough to not bother my stomach or spike my BG. This is also when I am on social media for the first time in the morning. After breakfast, I’ll go back upstairs and do my hair and makeup. Hair is easy; it’s either down or in two plaits. I really don’t do much else with my hair. Makeup is entirely dependent on the day and my mood. Somedays, it is my everyday makeup routine. On other days, it’s tinted moisturizer, tight-line upper lash line, blush, mascara and lipgloss. Once that is done, I’ll work on things for my blog, clean my room or watch something on TV. I’ve been really loving a show called Justified lately. The show came out a decade ago, but it’s so well done.
11:00am - 2pm: School
I’ll start doing my schoolwork around 11am and finish around 2pm, depending on what I’m working on. Because my college is all online and all assignments are due the following Monday, I get to decide which assignments to do when depending on how much work it’ll take. Longer projects will be started sooner, so I have adequate time to finish them.
3pm - 5pm: Chill
I have a lot of downtime, which is both a blessing and a curse. This is the time when I will nap. We all know I am the nap queen and love my sleep. If I am not sleeping, you can find me doing a ballet barre, filming videos or working on theatre things such as dance choreography, memorizing lines or singing.
5pm - 6pm: Dinner
When I lived on my university’s campus, I would have dinner early because that was when the group of people I hung out with went. At home, dinner is anywhere from 5 - 6pm. During dinner, my parents and I are probably watching a show together.
6pm - 9pm: Hygienic things
After dinner, I’ll do all the before bed hygienic things. Sometimes I’ll take a bath if my body is hurting a lot that day, or I’ll do a face mask after my usual skincare routine.
9pm - 10pm - Reading
An hour before bed, I like to spend ten minutes or so cleaning up my room if it gets messy before settling down with a book. For a while, I kept seeing adverts on Instagram for a book called Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust and eventually, I caved and preordered the book. “Technically”, I’ve heard the book twice via Audible (I listen to audiobooks when I sleep), but I don’t remember any of the book, so I’m rereading it this time in print. So far, it’s very intriguing.
10pm: Lights out
I try to turn out the lights early because I love my sleep, and I can not function if I don’t get a solid 7-8 hours of sleep. I’ve noticed that when I don’t get enough sleep, I’m slower at work, less likely to be the positive, bubbly person everyone knows me as, and I definitely drink more coffee and take longer naps. As you know from my first post, sleep is vital to me, so I always try to get as much sleep as possible. I’ve been really loving the app Sleep Cycle because it has a custom alarm system which wakes me up in the lightest part of a sleep cycle with a very calming sound. It also analyzes my sleep patterns, I can write notes about my day and from all that data, I can learn how to better my sleep habits.
So that completes it for this post. As per usual, I hope you enjoyed a more detailed overview of my life. Make sure you like, comment, and share this post.
